Gabriella is growing!

We wanted to post another picture of Gabby. She is a pretty easy baby. She has been eating lots, but she has been sleeping lots as well. She doesn't cry very much and everyone loves her.

Welcome Gabriella!

We had a baby girl today at 2:28 pm! We are very happy to welcome Gabriella Areta into our family. She was 9 pounds 10.3 ounces and 20.5 inches at birth. She also had a head measurement of 14.25 and chest measurement of 14.5. We went in for induction a little before 6:00 this morning and Jennifer was started on pitocin at about 7:00. Since they wanted to give two doses of antibiotics 4 hours apart, they kept things pretty slow. Then, her doctor was busy in surgery and didn't come break her water until about 1:50. Everything went very quickly from that point and the medical staff were all amazed how quickly Gabriella came. We look forward to having her home soon.

Baby Induction

Well, my last appointment was on Monday and the doctor mentioned that he could induce me this weekend if I wanted. I told him I would think about it. We thought about it and decided to call today to schedule an appointment. I'm going in early tomorrow morning to be induced. I would rather not be induced, but at this point I am desperate to have this baby and I just don't know if I will ever go into labor naturally. As of tomorrow I will be a week over. We'll post info and pictures tomorrow.

Halloween Stroll

Today we went downtown for the annual Halloween Stroll. The kids went trick-or-treating to a bunch of the businesses that were handing out candy. The kids enjoyed showing off their costumes and loved getting candy. Gideon thought it was pretty neat that he had to just hold out his bag and people put candy in it. We got enough candy to last at least until Halloween. Unfortunately, I think all the kids inherited my sweet tooth, so candy doesn't usually last for long around our house.
Emma dressed as a black dragon. Benjamin was a wizard. Eliza was a princess-knight, and Gideon was her page. My ulterior motive for walking around downtown for an two hours didn't work. I'm still pregnant.

So much for Fall!

Fall has come to a screeching halt. On Friday, we woke to about 3 inches of snow on the ground. It snowed again on Saturday, and we woke up this morning again to some more falling snow. We are supposed to get back up into the fifties next week, so it will melt. However, a few more weeks of fall would have been appreciated.

Soccer Madness

We have one more game for the fall 2008 soccer season. It has lasted 6 weeks and between driving the kids to practices, Dan coaching, and the weather cooling I think we are all ready for it to be over. Emma has been playing in the girl's U9 division. She has mainly played defender, but has done well as a forward too. Dan is coaching Benjamin's team again this season. They are called the Fireballs and Dan rotates them so they play both defender and forward about the same amount of time. Eliza is on the Husky Scuba Divers. She is a little dynamo and averages about five goals each game. They still play swarm ball, but it is fun to watch. Gideon looks forward to playing as well, but until he is four, he gets to sit on the sidelines.

35 Weeks and Counting

Well I'm 35 weeks pregnant. I went to the doctor today and he said I'm measuring pretty big. He asked what size my other kids were and I told him Gideon was my biggest and he was 8 lbs 13 oz. He asked how I thought this baby compared with him, and I told him I thought she was bigger and he agreed that she might be. I'm really hoping she comes early. We'll keep you posted on the latest.
