2nd Story

Here is the second story. I took these pictures last Friday, but haven't gotten around to posting them.

More Framing

It is truly amazing how fast it is going up now. There are six guys working on it and they seem to be flying. We'll have to see if they get the second floor up tomorrow. We are WAY excited.

Welcome Walls

We were really afraid all of the snow would slow the builders down, but by when we went by on Tuesday they were working away. We went by yesterday (Wednesday) and they had done all of this. Woohoo, we have walls! I can't wait to go by today after I pick up the kids from school to see what has happened.

Anderson Farm

Last Monday and Tuesday the kids had teacher inservice days and were off. Dan had Monday (Columbus Day) off as well so we decided to head south of Fort Collins, Colorado to Anderson Farms. There wasn't any snow and it got up to the upper 40's. We had a blast!

Here we are in front of their bunnyville area. The bunnies were eating all of the pumpkins surrounding the fence.

The kids really enjoyed their animal petting area. They had a lot of goats including some baby ones. they also had chickens, geese, cats, and a couple of llamas.

They were all imprisoned. We were tempted to leave them there, but decided we should spring them instead.

We took a wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch and on the way we stopped to feed some long horned cattle and a buffalo. It was pretty funny how well these animals were trained to eat from the side of the wagon.

We had to do the 30 acre corn maze. there were 18 spots with hole punches to find. we got to 12 of them which we thought was pretty good with all of the kids.

They had a haystack maze the kids were supposed to find their way through, but the kids had more fun running on top.

The kids favorite part of the day was the barrel car ride. They LOVED it! We went twice. The first time we got a really long ride because nobody else was waiting. Fun!

We bought some gourds from the pumpkin patch. They had a hard frost , so they weren't sure if the pumpkins were okay, so we decided to get some heartier gourds rather than possibly go through the trauma of melting pumpkins. They were fun to pick.

Fall?

This is what we woke up to last Saturday morning. We got about 10 inches of snow! We dug out our car and ran errands anyway. We also went and saw Harry Potter 6 at the dollar movie theater. Emma, Ben and Eliza really liked it. Gideon got bored after an hour and Gabby could not care less about watching the movie, so it will probably be the last time we all go to a non-cartoon movie for a while.

Our House: Some Assembly Required

The wood was delivered a couple of days ago. We were waiting for the plumber to finish some of the preliminary plumbing. They also needed to get the french drain and sump pump set before they poured the floor of the basement.

Here is the foundation with the dirt filled in. They are doing another survey on the slope of the ground and then we will find out if we will get our garden level basement like we were told when we started the whole process. By the way, yes that is snow in the background, but the building must go on!

Basement Walls

I actually took these pictures a few days ago, but I'm just getting around to posting them now. we will go check out the site tomorrow and see what has happened. Framing is supposed to start next week. This last week we picked out our finishes and we are pretty much going with the standard: laminate countertops, oak cupboards, tile in the bathrooms, and we decided to do wood floor in the kitchen. We are going with browns and tans--very neutral colors. It is a two story house with a basement. Almost all of the main floor will be wood. We hope it is not too much wood, but we will probably get some rugs to put on it, so we think it will work okay. We are very excited, we just wish it was already done.
